It has been quite some time since my last blog. Who knew that planning a four year old’s birthday party would totally take me OFF of my blogging game. While I would LOVE to just write one long post that provides an update since the last post, I’d rather save a little bit for the days ahead. I promise you, between Chase’s recent questions (i.e. Mom, did someone take my boogers?), Chris’ irritation with my natural hair journey (or maybe it’s just the shedding that he doesn’t like… the furry, fuzzy, spirally curls that insist on falling from my head aren’t my fault) or the realization that we are content with two kids only… there is more than enough to share! However, for now… I wanted to share Chase’s birthday party.
His theme was “Chase’s Superhero Training Camp Birthday Party”… While I did most of the planning on my own (side eye to Chris)… I must say, Dad came through with awesome graphics and day of help.

“Please excuse our mess.” I say this line every time someone comes to our house. At this point, it’s a habit. Even if the house is immaculate (picture that, our home…immaculate… HA!). If we ever greet you with those four words when you come to visit, you’ll know why after this post
When you’re constantly on the go as much as we are, it can be quite challenging to keep a clean and orderly house with two little ones around. Especially when the oldest little one acts as if his purpose in life, thus far, is to search and destroy everything he lays his eyes on. At the end of a long day, it’s easy to look up, see stuff out of place and at times be entirely too tired to fix it up.
Just this weekend, at the end of a tiring day (had the boys by myself because Chris had to work – that’s a post in itself – dropped the boys off with their Aunt so I could do a maternity session, picked the boys back up after the shoot and then went back home ) I found myself at an interesting place with the hubby.
The place where the kids are sleep… (Chase is our blocker… he usually falls asleep watching television with us… three years later and we’re still trying to put him on a schedule smh)
The house is a little disorderly…
It needs to be cleaned… but you’re too tired to spell tired… Continue reading

Ever since I understood what marriage and family was, I knew I wanted to have one. I knew that it was important to me – a loving husband, kids, a home… a life and love to share. At a young age, I also knew that I wanted to be successful. I wanted to pursue vast interests and goals, have a thriving career, maybe even a business AND yet still be able to have a family. The thought that I would have to choose or be pigeonholed into one or the other gave me gas… so, I chose both. In fact, many women do. This blog is simply my way of sharing a behind the scenes view of what having it all looks like to me – ups, downs, lefts and rights.
Does it get crazy? Heck yes! Do I get 8-hours of sleep every night? Absolutely… NOT. Have I had to make sacrifices I didn’t anticipate? Indeed. Is every day merry up in this case? Puuuuleaaase! But, is it worth it? Do I love it? Am I happy? Absofreakinlutely!
So… with that said…while some were tuning into the Democratic National Convention…
It was a pretty typical night around here… for starters, Chase was running around in his preferred “house clothes” fighting bad guys (let me know if you see any).
